Force To Make Special Media Appearance
Helicopter that took Force to hospital will fly him to the Texas Motorplex

14-time NHRA POWERade Drag Racing champion John Force will be at the Texas Motorplex for a special media luncheon on Monday, Sept. 15. Force was injured in a second-round accident during the O'Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex in 2007 when his Castrol GTX High Mileage Ford Mustang collided with fellow NHRA legend Kenny Bernstein. Force was hospitalized at Baylor University Medical Center for nearly a month following the accident.

The Ennis-based Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter service flew Force out of the track and to the hospital. On Sept. 15 they will fly Force back to the track and land at the spot of the accident. Force will present the staff with gifts honoring their great effort in transporting Force to the hospital.

The accident came just months following the testing accident death of Force Racing driver Eric Medlen (March at Gainesville, Fla., Raceway) prompting Force to start The Eric Medlen Project (TEMP) – a safety initiative that will aggressively research ways to make race cars in all motorsports better and safer.

Force has worked with Texas Motorplex owner Billy Meyer on how to make the track safer. Meyer will be implementing safety changes before the national event this year.
