Four Race Shootout to Decide Pro Mod Championship

August 29, 2006 Columbus, NC - Quain Stott and his LeeBoy Paving Equipment Corvette have raced for a long time. Whether it's outlaw racing, shootout's or chasing an IHRA Championship, he's seen just about everything drag racing competition can throw at his team. But, nothing compares to the tight points race of the 2006 Torco Competitionplus.com Pro Modified class.

"This is closer than I can ever remember it this late in the season," Stott explained. With four races remaining on the schedule, Stott finds his LeeBoy, Torco Race Fuels team in the middle of the fierce action. Currently Stott is just nine points away from Danny Rowe in second place and just 17 points from Kerunsky, points leader. Mike Janis and Jim Halsey round out the top five, Halsey just 103 points from the lead also. "You could call it a five car shootout if you want," said Stott. "But, with Carl (Spiering), Mike (Castellana) and Tommy (teammate D'Aprile) back there, it's really still anyone's championship."

Stott supplied a strong qualifying show for the often rain delayed Skull Shine World Nationals, racing the LeeBoy colors to a number two position with a 6.145 elapsed time at 230.25MPH. Over 600 LeeBoy customers witnessed the effort. "We had a lot of support from our LeeBoy family this weekend," said Stott. Stott would go on to make a quarter-final appearance, matching low elapsed time of round number two with a 6.178ET.

"We're blessed to be this close," Stott added. "This old Corvette has really been good to us. Last week I got a call from LeeBoy and they told me they didn't care what color the car was, the championship was more important. I really feel like that new car is going to be a bad hot rod, but how can you change cars with points that are so close? We have so much data on this car, we know exactly what to do with it at every track for every condition. We're probably just going to keep riding this hot rod during the chase for the championship."

Competition continues for the LeeBoy Corvette, powered by Torco Race Fuels at the Amalie Oil North American Nationals in Epping, New Hampshire, September 8-10 at the New England Dragway.

Quain Stott Drag Racing partners with high performance companies like, LeeBoy Equipment, Torco Race Fuels, Mercer Transportation, Richmond Gear, Mickey Thompson Tires, NGK Spark Plugs, Auto Meter, Stroud Safety, Santhuff Shocks, Fulton Race Engines and Spartan Crank Shafts.
