Janis Looks to Defend Event Title in Milan

Elma, NY – Since it's inception as a national event in 2003 Mike Janis has all but dominated the Pro Modified division at the IHRA Motor City Nationals. Taking wins at Milan in 2007and 2006 Janis, the defending event champion, is looking to make it three in a row. Janis also took home top honors in 2003 along with a runner-up finish in 2004.

"Milan Dragway is our adopted home track. I'm just not sure if we adopted the track or it adopted us," said Janis. "We do very well here and to be honest, sometimes we haven't performed to our best but we've still been able to come out on top."

Along with their yearly stop at the IHRA Motor City Nationals Mike Janis and his Eaton backed team visit the Detroit area track several times a year.

"Our sponsors are heavily involved with this track. Milan's Friday night Heads Up Program is backed by Eaton's Aeroquip Performance Products. Eaton's automotive division runs an event for Eaton employees, vendors and customers here, which we attend, called Eaton Race Day. There are also other special events, which Eaton is involved in. So, we've become very familiar with this surface and she's treated us very well," said crew chief Mike Janis Jr.

Recently Aeroquip Performance Products, a division of Eaton, has agreed to post a $500 bonus to the IHRA Pro Mod racer who earns the Saturday night "Last Man Standing" award. The program is called "Eaton Aeroquip Pro Mod Madness" and it will begin at the IHRA Motor City Nationals".

"Between Eaton Automotive and Aeroquip as well as other Eaton divisions I think there will be something like 450 "Eaton people" at this race," said team owner/driver, Mike Janis. "It would mean a lot to myself and our team for us to be the first Eaton Aeroquip Pro Mod Madness winner.

The Motor City Nationals presented by GM performance Parts and Heritage Newspapers will be held just south of Detroit, Michigan in Milan at Milan Dragway from May 23rd-25th.
