DSR FUNNY CAR DRIVERS TOP CHARTS DURING NHRA TIME TRIALS

CLERMONT, Ind. (Aug. 24, 2007) - Don Schumacher Racing Funny Car drivers Ron Capps, Gary Scelzi and Jack Beckman topped the Funny Car charts at the NHRA Time Trials held at O'Reilly Raceway Park during the three-day closed test session held Aug. 21-23.

Capps, who drove the Brut "Test Drive" Dodge Charger R/T during testing then will switch to the Brut Revolution Dodge Charger body for the U.S. Nationals at ORP on 8/31-9/3, posted the quickest time of 4.846 seconds at 317.87 mph. His teammate Gary Scelzi, driver of the Mopar/Oakley Dodge Charger R/T, was next with a 4.847/322.19, and was followed by the third DSR Funny Car driver, Jack Beckman, driving the Mail Terminal Services Dodge Charger R/T, who recorded a three-day best of 4.860/316.45.

All three drivers have qualified in the top eight for the new Countdown to the Championship after 17 races of 23 of the 2007 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. Capps is No. 1, Beckman No. 5, and Scelzi No. 7. The Countdown to Four begins at the U.S. Nationals on Labor Day weekend.

The three DSR drivers have also qualified for the Skoal Showdown, a bonus event which will run during the U.S. Nationals.
