Carpenter begins must-win mission in Norwalk

(8-22-2007) NORWALK, OH – Charles Carpenter has had an electrifying 2007 campaign, especially on the local quick-8 Pro Modified circuits in the Southeast. Since his big win in Houston to open the ADRL season, however, it has been a struggle for Carpenter when the chips are all down.

“We have run really well, but we can’t seem to put it all together on the big stage,” Carpenter said. “At the last two ADRL races Jamie Hancock has put us on the trailer with holeshots in the first round. We’ve been on our game as far as performance, but have just been on the losing end of really close races.”

The Pro Mod veteran has backed off his usual torrid summer pace for a variety of reasons this season, but the biggest of those has been Mother Nature.

“It has been so incredibly hot here in South over the past month, it’s been unbearable,” said the Charlotte, NC based driver. “We made it to Orangeburg a few weeks ago, and suffered through triple-digit temperatures there. We are looking forward to heading north to Norwalk where some cooler temperatures hopefully await us.”

Carpenter will also go into the inaugural Chevy Drags with something quite a few ADRL teams do not have: track data. This is the first time the Flowmaster American Drag Racing League will make the trip to Norwalk and Summit Motorsports Park, and it will be the first time for many of the outlaw teams as well. Carpenter has competed at Norwalk countless times on both the Super Chevy and IHRA tours.

“I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve raced there,” said Carpenter. “I love it every time I go though. The track and facility are excellent, and the Baders do an awesome job. I’m excited to see what they’ve done with the place since the move to NHRA sanctioning.”

Carpenter would like nothing more than to begin his march back up the ADRL Pro Nitrous points standings at this familiar track.

“We’ve got to go rounds, and we’ve got to do it now,” Carpenter said. “We’ve had a good amount of time off to prepare and go over everything, and really get focused. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my son Mike more eager to get to a race. We really feel like a monkey has been on our back since Houston, and it has to get off this weekend if we are going to compete for a championship in Dallas.”

“For Custom Autosound, Pat Doherty, and everyone else behind us, the time is now.”

Carpenter is still actively seeking primary sponsorship support. For more information about Charles Carpenter Racing and The World’s Fastest ’55 Chevy, or for a copy of the team’s 2007 Marketing Partnership Guide, visit Charles Carpenter Racing.
