Smith and Rivas are Up for the Challenge

Coming off a crazy weekend in Englishtown last time out, Smith and Rivas are ready to get back to the track and get after it. Racing their Torco Race Fuel Buells for the first at the Summit Racing Nationals at the Norwalk, OH track, Smith and Rivas are up for the challenge.

“We have definitely had our work cut out for us this past week,” said Smith. “We didn’t go home, but we have been working on the motors in Virginia. I think we are going to be just fine in Norwalk. It is going to be a challenge for us all, in that most NHRA drivers have never raced there, but it will be interesting none-the-less.”

Smith lost second round last weekend in Englishtown, due to a broken lash cap. That was only the second time he had not been in a final this year. Smith remains your point’s leader going into Norwalk and has high hopes of running up front in Ohio.

“We had some issues in New Jersey with the motors,” said Rivas. “But everybody has those problems every now and then; sometimes you just can’t prevent those things. Matt has been working real hard over the last few days getting things back to normal, and I can’t wait to run in Norwalk. With Evan Knoll backing me and Brian Olson supplying an incredible paint job on my bike, the sky is the limit at this point.”

Rivas lost first round last weekend in a very close drag race against overall race winner Craig Treble. After sliding down one spot in the points, Rivas is bound and determined this weekend to make up for lost time.

“The bikes only have five more races before the top-eight cut-off,” said Rivas. “We have got to start moving up the ladder now, before it is too late. There are a ton of great riders out there, but I think that we have the best team to get it done and we are ready to prove that.”

This Torco Race Fuels Pro Stock Motorcycle team has proven that they are one of the top contenders for the championship this year, and both riders are ready to make it happen.
