VALDOSTA, Ga. (May 2, 2007) - For Pro Mod driver Joshua Hernandez, this weekend's Camp Motorsport Georgia Drags, the third of eight Flowmaster American Drag Racing League events of the season, was going to be a busy two days even in the most normal of circumstances. With his AMS/Rage team's just-announced plans, though, the weekend is looking to be anything but normal.

Hernandez will be seeking two ADRL event wins Saturday at South Georgia Motorsports Park, having reached the Pro Extreme final round of the rain-delayed 2006 ADRL World Finals - which will be completed during Saturday's qualifying rounds - and joining what is expected to be a strong group of other Pro Extreme entries for the Georgia Drags competition. As if that's not enough, Hernandez and teammate Troy Critchley will also attempt to compete at Friday through Sunday's AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Challenge event in the St. Louis area, giving Hernandez a shot at what would be an unprecedented three Pro Mod event wins in a single weekend. The AMS/Rage team announced its plans to attempt to have its drivers at both events in a media release distributed Wednesday evening.

"Yeah, we're going to try to do the impossible, be two places at once," Critchley said in the media release. "It'll be exhausting, exciting, and amazing - and, hopefully, worth it."

The team's plans call for four race cars to be split between the two facilities (with the team's Outlaw-trim '57 Bel Air and '93 Corvette ready to race at the ADRL event at SGMP) and the use of two private jets to move the drivers quickly between southern Georgia and the St. Louis area. Hernandez and Critchley will attempt to qualify Friday at the Pro Mod Challenge event, race all day Saturday at the Georgia Drags, then return for Sunday's eliminations in St. Louis.

For Hernandez, the weekend represents a golden opportunity to climb to the top of the AlphaTrade ADRL Battle for the Belts points standings. He will face Dwayne Watkins in a one-race showdown Saturday to finally determine the ADRL World Finals Pro Extreme champion, and will also be considered a strong candidate to reach the late rounds of the Georgia Drags eliminations. In the ADRL's 2007 season-opener in Houston, Hernandez reached the semifinals before losing on a holeshot to eventual event winner Mike Bell.

Once the delayed final rounds from the ADRL World Finals are completed (Harold Martin and Terry Housley will meet for the Pro Nitrous title), drivers will be awarded Battle for the Belts points from that event, making this weekend's Georgia Drags a potential points-scoring lottery for a number of drivers.

A typically strong ADRL Pro Extreme field is expected to join Hernandez and Critchley to race for the Georgia Drags title. Among the expected entrants are Bell, eight-time ADRL finalist John Lynam, 2006 ADRL world champion Bubba Stanton, Pro Extreme record-holder Jason Scruggs (whose class-leading records stand at 3.813 and 198.44 mph), Todd Tutterow, Mike and Michael Neal, and three-time event winner Bil Clanton. Pro Extreme action gets under way Friday night with one qualifying round, followed by two more qualifying passes Saturday afternoon that will set the 16-car field for Saturday night's eliminations.
