Motorvation Joins Millican, Koretsky Top Fuel Team for NHRA Finals

Motorvation Joins Millican, Koretsky Top Fuel Team for NHRA Finals

Clay Millican and Kenny Koretsky’s Top Fuel team will have a different look for a second 2006 NHRA event in the Auto Club Finals this weekend at Pomona Raceway.

Motorvation Automotive Performance Products will be featured, along with Werner Enterprises, Nitro Fish, Torco Racing Fuels, OCC and Motel 6 in the season-ending event.

Mark Pickens, owner of Motorvation Automotive Performance Products of Memphis, also sponsored the team at Indianapolis in September.

"That one-race sponsorship really opened up some business opportunities for us," said Pickens. "We really didn't realize we would get those opportunities as quickly as we did. So when Clay called to see if we were interested in supporting the team at the Finals, it was easy to say yes."

For Millican, crew chief Mike Kloeber and the crew, this event marks a passing of the guard because it’s the final time Werner Enterprises will be connected with the team. The Omaha, Neb.-based trucking company decided to move in a different direction in 2007.

"We think it's cool that Mark had enough interest in our team to come back and sponsors us a second time," said Millican, of Drummonds, Tenn. "It is good for our race team and drag racing as a whole.

"As far as we're concerned, we want to make four really good runs in qualifying at Pomona and be able to stand on the gas a few times on Sunday. Everyone on our team wants to finish the year on a good note."

The ending would be even more remarkable should Millican win the Finals. This will be his 60th NHRA race and he’s looking for his first victory. He does, however, have 50 IHRA victories and six consecutive series championship titles.

"We want Clay to get his first NHRA win as soon as possible," said team-owner Koretsky, "and we are happy to welcome Mark and Motorvation to the team again, this time for the Finals.

I also want to thank Evan Knoll and Latrell Preston of Torco Racing Fuels for their associate sponsorship support for the final five races of the season. We appreciate it."

Motorvation Automotive Performance Products manufactures and sells performance chips, modules and handheld programmers for domestic cars, trucks, SUVs and light-duty vehicles that enhance both performance and fuel economy.

Millican and the crew will be ready when qualifying begins with 3 p.m. sessions Thursday and Friday and two more on Saturday at noon and 3:30p.m. Eliminations begin Sunday at 11 a.m.

KPK Motorsports appreciates all its sponsors. We couldn't do this without them. Our thanks to Werner Enterprises, Nitro Fish, OCC, Motel 6, Goodyear, Royal Purple, Champion, Speed Pro, Fel Pro, FRAM, Prestone, Autolite, Torco Racing Fuels, ISC Racers Tape, Cyclo, Boninfante Clutches, American Racing Wheels, Jerry Bickel Race Cars and VHT.
