Foley and Lewis-Richmond Pre-Race

Torco Racing Fuels POWERade Top Fuel driver Doug Foley will not be able to compete at this weekend's Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals in Virginia due to a crash last week that has temporarily sidelined the team.

The eventual outcome of the accident after a two day stay in the hospital is a broken ankle and leg, four cracked ribs, a separated shoulder and a concussion, but as Foley puts it, "Except for a leg in a cast, I can still walk and that's all that matters. But in the mean time, my family and I are extremely grateful for all the prayers and thoughts that have poured in from phone calls and e-mails. And I could never thank Torco's Evan Knoll enough for the undeniable support for my wife Shelagh, my sons Douglas and Joseph, and our entire team."

Tim Lewis, Foley's partner says, "In the general scheme of things, this is just a minor setback. We can rebuild and Doug is fine, which is the important thing right now."

Foley added, "I feel extremely sorry that we won't have the car there to represent Evan Knoll and the Torco Mach Series Accelerator line of products, especially with all the Evan has done for me and my family. But I'll still be at Virginia Motorsports Park on Thursday, October 5th for the Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals Media Day. It's probably going to break my heart not to be in a race car, but it might be hard with a cast on my leg anyway. Right now we're just looking forward to rebuilding and getting back on track in 2007."
