Reading Leaves Bradford Looking Towards Vegas

On a day when all the V-twins but one (which was racing another V-twin) lost in round 1, Tom Bradford and the Hal's Speedshop/Balbayis Asset Consulting Buell had plenty of company loading up and leaving Reading early. The really good Maple Grove Raceway air that the Pro Stock Motorcycles had to breathe this weekend favored the volumetric efficiency of inline four cylinder motors. That's what new national record holder Angelle Sampey was packing in her frame rails when she beat Bradford in the first round.

eliminations round 1
(W) Angelle Sampey .014 et 7.010 at 187.78 mph
Tom Bradford .015 et 7.070 at 189.87 mph

"We ran a good race against Angelle," said Tom. "I cut a good light and ran her hard all the way, but we came up short. Now we'll focus real hard on the last two races of the year to finish as high in the top 10 points chase as we can."

The next race will be at The Strip in Las Vegas, where Tom has a glittering history during his 5-time AHDRA championship career and at last year's NHRA race. In only his third event on the new Buell, Tom qualified 10th there and beat Reading winner Karen Stoffer in round 1. Tom took reaction time of the event honors with a .004 light against Reading runner-up Geno Scali before losing to fellow Buell jockey Chip Ellis in the semis. "We've had a very good record in Vegas," agreed Bradford, who can't wait to get there.
