Herbert heads to the Lone Star state for the NHRA Fall Nationals
DALLAS, TX, pre-race: Doug Herbert will head to the Lone Star state this weekend to compete at the 21st annual O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis. The driver of the Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster will be gunning for his first win of the season as he seeks to break back into the Top 10 in the POWERade Drag Racing Series point standings.
Herbert has experienced his share of thrills and spills at the Texas Motorplex, drag racing's first all-concrete quarter-mile race track. In 1992, he escaped unharmed after his dragster went into a towering wheel stand that resulted in a dramatic blow over. Last year Herbert had a spectacular weekend in Dallas , qualifying No. 1 with a 4.441, the third quickest run in history, en route to a runner-up finish.
"I'm looking forward to returning to Dallas ," said Herbert from his facility in Lincolnton , North Carolina . "The Snap-on Tools team has been working extremely hard and the car has been running more consistently every weekend. The Texas Motorplex is a great race track and we're looking to step up our performance and come away with a victory."
