(June 30, 2008) Benson, NC - In only his second series start, Thomasville, NC's Andy Beal hoisted the massive $8,000 check in the winner's circle last Saturday night at Dunn-Benson Dragway, scoring a win in the heads-up Top Dawg series.

Beal took control of the event early when he clocked 4.28 @ 177mph, good enough for #1 qualifier as well as top speed of the meet. Beal, an engine builder by trade, stopped veteran R.B. Smith in round one, followed by a victory over Travis Harvey in the semi-finals. Beal took a single pass to victory when Jason Harris hurt the motor at the conclusion of his semi-final victory over hometown favorite Brian Williams.

Beal sealed the victory on Saturday night while driving his McAmis Camaro with power from an in-house 762 c.i. big block Chevy. Only a week earlier, Beal wounded this same engine at an event in Radford, VA's Motor Mile Dragway. "My guys came in off the clock on Sunday and freshened this motor," said Beal. Throw in the normal duties of the week, and this team finally got around to firing the engine at 10:00pm on Friday night. "We rolled the car in the trailer early this morning, and came down here on a mission," said Beal.

Beal and team hopes for continued success mid week as Piedmont Dragway hosts a 2-day Big Dog event this coming Wednesday and Thursday.
