Hudson ready for the "Big Go" in Indy

CLERMONT, Ind. - After posting solid numbers during last month's "Western Swing," NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Don Hudson hopes to turn those numbers into success during this weekend's Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, the most prestigious race in all of drag racing. The Red Line Oil backed team hopes a new PSI Supercharger will be their 'ace in the hole' this weekend.

Hudson, from Stockton, Calif., not only hopes to continue the strong numbers he ran on the Western Swing, but build on the consistency the team showed as well.

"The car has ran well at the past few races," said Hudson. "We've had a car that could win at the past few races but we haven't been able to put it in the winner's circle. We're not going to try to kill the world; we just want to be consistent and make small steps at a time."

Not wanting to leave anything on the table, Hudson has taken delivery of a brand new PSI Supercharger for the weekend.

"This is Indy, so you're going to be racing the best of the best," stated Hudson. "We've been running an older model PSI, so hopefully the new blower will give us a little more performance. We plan to start qualifying with our old blower to get it down the track, then put the new blower on when we're solidly in the field. It's Indy, so you have to bring your A game."

Qualifying begins on Thursday and will run until Saturday for the alcohol cars. Round one of eliminations will be Sunday morning, and final eliminations will conclude the event on Monday.
