JANES HAS HIGH EXPECTATIONS COMING INTO VALDOSTA

(5-9-2008) VALDOSTA, GA – After a two-month layoff from competition within the American Drag Racing League’s Extreme 10.5 division, David Janes and the Knockout Motorsports Pontiac Grand Am are ready to get back to business in South Georgia. While the team has kept their focus tight on the 10.5-racing world, choosing to race nearly exclusively with the ADRL – Janes hasn’t had an opportunity to test as much as he would like.

“We really hoped to be able to carry our early momentum into the Tulsa race and get back onto the track pretty quick,” said Janes, who receives additional support from Mickey Thompson Tires. “The weather, though, threw a wrench in our plans and we still haven’t had the weather in the Midwest to do any testing locally. We’re in Macon, Georgia today testing and this is the first time we’ve been on the track since Houston. All we’ve got to do is shake off the rust, get back out on the track and do our deal.”

Coming off a stellar performance at the season-opening event in Houston, Texas back in March where Janes scored a Runner-Up finish, the Knockout Motorsports group comes into Valdosta determined to get the job done on Saturday night. Currently sitting No. 1 in the ADRL Battle for the Belts Points, by 51 points over Kenny Kneece, Janes has the opportunity to extend his lead with a good outing at SGMP.

“We just have to take it step by step – qualify well, go rounds and see what happens,” explained Janes. “Keeping our focus and running our race is crucial. It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing and lose sight of your own program. In Valdosta you’re going to see us more self-centered than ever before – in a good way, of course.”

“ADRL’s Extreme 10.5 is showing positive growth with new teams showing up at every event,” said Janes. “I don’t see Valdosta being any different – we’ll see new cars and new drivers both and probably one of the most competitive fields the class has had. I really enjoy racing at Valdosta, hopefully the weather will cooperate and we’ll have a big crowd to put on a show for. As long as we can continue to be consistent and go down the track under power more often than not, I’ll be happy.”
