NHRA Racers United to Help Dream House For Medically Fragile Children

Dream House for Medically Fragile Children will be the benefactor of a special fund-raising event featuring National Hot Rod Association race car drivers and true American heroes on Saturday, April 27, at Chateau Élan Winery & Resort in Braselton, Ga.

The event organizers are Roger Burgess and Mike Ashley, co-owners of Gotham City Racing, drivers and successful businessmen who recognize the impact Dream House has in providing for medically fragile children.

Racing fans will have an opportunity to mix and mingle with NHRA drivers –who will be competing at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, April 26-28 – throughout the evening. Some of the drivers who will be attending include Burgess and Ashley, Melanie Troxel, Gary Scelzi, Frank Hawley, Jack Beckman, Matt Smith, Raymond Commosso and Danny Rowe.

Dream House for Medically Fragile Children, Inc., has corporate offices in Snellville, Ga. It obtains all its resources from donations, grants and fund raising activities. Event tickets are $250 each. Anyone sponsoring a table of 10 ($2500) will sponsor a race car driver or Dream House representative and their guest. Ticket information is available at http://www.registereasy.org/burgess or call 1-678-248-3186.

“As race car owners and drivers, when we break a part, we throw it away and get a new one,” said Burgess, co-founder of ProCare Rx and resident of Duluth, Ga. “What if parents did that with their children? As sad as that sounds, it is happening every day right here in the U.S.A. Unable or, in some cases unwilling, to care for their child because of complicated and costly medical treatments, parents are throwing away their children.

“We have to do something about that. Without help, these children become wards of the state and spend a great part or all of their life in the hospital or an adult-oriented nursing home.

“One woman, Laura Moore, decided to dedicate her life to doing something about that,” Burgess continued. “She established Dream House, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding foster parents, medical equipment and training homes. Giving money is easy, giving time is hard, and giving your life takes an angel. Laura Moore is an angel. She needs our help so Dream House can help these kids find a loving, caring home.”
