Rickie Smith Ready to Wrap Up 2007

Skull Gear Pro Stock driver, Rickie Smith heads to the IHRA World Finals at Rockingham Dragway this weekend with one goal in mind, and that is to win. As the winningest Pro Stock driver in IHRA’s history, with six of his wins coming from Rockingham, Smith knows what it takes to win here.

After having his ups and downs this season, Smith is ready to wrap up the 2007 season and focus on 2008, but not before trying to win in front of his fans this weekend.

“We should have been a lot more competitive this year,” said Smith. “But we are going to find out what the problem is over the next few months and fix it. We hope to run for the IHRA Championship next year, but not before we put on a good show for the fans here this weekend.”

After testing at Darlington Raceway this past week, Smith is hoping to have solved a few of his problems. Sitting ninth in the Pro Stock points at the moment, Smith is not necessarily focused on his position in the points this weekend, but going rounds and upsetting some of the front-runners.

“We are always a contender,” said Smith. “Don’t ever count this old dog out, cause he’ll bite you when you are least expecting it. Hopefully we can go some rounds this weekend, and come out swinging next year.”
