Jones looking to finish 2007 strong in Noble

NOBLE, Okla. - Fresh off a career-best speed at their last outing three weeks ago in Dallas, Jimmy Jones and the Kelly & Jones Texas Tremor NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car team are hoping to finish the year strong during this weekend's Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series closer at Thunder Valley Raceway Park just outside of Oklahoma City, Okla. The defending two-time Division 4 Champ also runner-upped at the last Division 4 event in Shreveport, La.

Jones, a practicing pharmacist in Cleburne, Texas, hopes a strong finish will not only give them momentum to regain the Division 4 title next year as well as staying on top of the Division 4 Jeg's Sportsman All-Star points.

"We really want to finish the year on an up note," said Jones. "We also want to stay on top of the All-Star points heading into next year. There's 17 cars pre-entered competing for an eight car field, so there should be plenty of competition. There's a couple of other divisions that have their championships still on the line, so a lot of heavy hitters will be here."

"Not only do we want to represent our home division well, but we'd also like to finish the year with a strong showing for our sponsors," Jones continued. "Without the support of companies like Painless Performance, Skinz Wraps, Vistaplex Video Surveillance, Royal Purple Oil and Comp Cams, we wouldn't be out here. We didn't do as well as we would have liked to in Dallas a few weeks ago, but we did run our career best speed of 257 mph, so my partner Paul Kelly and the crew really have the car flying. Hopefully we can build on that and end 2007 on a strong note."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars followed by two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
