Gotta love the camera man going for a ride in the passenger seat of Rickie Smith's FORD.

Gotta love Rickie's racing suit too... blue jeans, sneakers, no gloves. CRAZY!!

Rickie, you gotta go back to running a Ford, I was devastated when you switched!!

Amanda, get your Dad back in order!

I enjoyed the clothing too...like blue jeans with the wrench in the back pocket. How cool would it be to have more of this!

John,

Is the guy behind you in the avatar related to you?

Man it's fun to look back, it's hard to believe 1983 was so long ago, but if you think about it, the sport is almost twice as old now! Me too.... Anyway, while I really miss the dry hops, I forgot how they really got after it with multiple hops, it made the cars look as ferocious as they are. How about the opening with Duran Duran playing?

Re: classic drag racing television

Great vid.

Raised goose bumps on the ole arms. Ain't that crazy?

Wouldn't it be really great if someone could get the rights to all these race vids, and place them all on one website?

I know I'm dreamin', but wow.

I'd be like that guy in the basement in the old movie "Brainstorm"! I'd never leave the 'puter. Well, not except for a real race...

Notice how YOUNG everyone looked?

John, did you notice when they had the in-car camera with Rickie Smith, Rickie had no gloves and wore jeans and tennis shoes? Wow, how far we've come.

That was Mark Oswall and Tom Kattelman, they were the men behind that operation.

Re: classic drag racing television

That was great! I loved seeing Raymond Beadle and the Blue Max! That was back when the cars really did look funny!

I also must say that the host and that satin jacket really turned me on! haaaahaaha! The music that leads up to the funny cars sounds like a porno soundtrack! I love it!
