Riding the Coat Tails of Rapid Randy
i thought i would give this whole 'what i did last weekend' thing a try. (Hopefully Rapid doesnt have it copyrighted
)
Well this past weekend i traveled with Troy Martin and his '72 Chi-Town Hustler recreation to Martin, Michigan and the Funny Car Nationals. Justin Grant had his Stardust recreation there along with Rob Bruce, Kyle Wurtzel, Greg Jacobsmeyer and Shawn & Mike Bowen.
On the first pass the blower pulley came apart, which we attribute to the blower backfire we suffered in Union Grove 2 weeks earlier. The pulley was probably cracked and thats why it came apart.
On the second run we went up there with the intention to give the Stardust a run for their money! And we did. It was 45 degrees....density altitude at 435ft
. I pulled Troy into the beams and gave him the good to go. The thing launched better then i had ever seen it. 1.03 60ft
....normally we are at 1.10. She was truckin right on down their. We had us a drag race. Troy pulled high gear and she made a move left to the wall and made contact pretty hard. DAMN!!! Now its time to get down there and make sure he's ok.
We get down their, Troy is A-ok but the same cant be said for the body. Big chunk missing right by the window. We get the timeslip...we were ahead at every increment. She was gonna run about a 6.22 or so (2.5 tenths better then its ever gone
) Justin and the Stardust crew set their career best for the second run in a row (6.31 on the 2nd pass) so Congrats to them!!
but now the big news...my older brother Dan got to do a burnout and do a launch in the Chi-Town earlier in the day. I am very happy for and proud of him. He did a great job. We'll see what happens with this, hopefully we'll have a 3rd generation in the Chi-Town soon!!!
i also got a chance to meet John Rogers and see PJ again...it was nice talking to those guys for a few minutes!
Thanks
Mike

Good stuff, my ND supporter friend--enjoyed reading it and hope to see more. Did you happen to find the Husker defense at the bottom of the Capt Morgan bottle with the ND offense?

Nice job mike. From somebody that's on the outside looking in I appreciate the behind the scenes perspective. That's an awesome opportunity. I look forward to your future blogs.
